By now we all know Australian Heath Ledger has died – aged 28. Somehow after all the news coverage and the rumor whirlwind, it is still intriguing to find out more, it drives us to dig deeper into the life of Heath Andrew Ledger. Perhaps this is what drove Heath to his death.
||Let’s take a moment and think about it the situation a little, here is a rising young actor, such a diverse talented actor in the same vein as our favorite Vinnie Chase, he has a movie coming out this year that will win him an Oscar ( Playing Joker in The Dark Knight ).So many similarities, yet such a contradiction. If we are to believe that he OD’ed there has to be questions asked.
If it was ‘accidental’ then what an unlucky human being. If it was a case of substance abuse to due depression, where was his support system? Where was his ‘Entourage’? It is sad that he had to die alone, so far from his family and friends.
Entourage has definitely created a sugary vision of an actors rise to stardom. It takes away the reality and puts celebrity lifestyle on a shiny pedestal for the rest of the world to admire. It is sometimes unfortunate to see that some people react to being in the limelight so differently.
Rest in peace Heath. Make sure the rest of you readers go rent out ‘Two Hands‘ (his debut movie) and see The Dark Knight.
||Our favorite network – HBO, is launching a new service called ‘HBO on Broadband’ on Tuesday in Milwaukee and Green Bay in the US of A. You’ll be able to watch Entourage (and maybe ‘The Wire‘ 😉 ) when you feel like it (…also called ‘torrents’?).
At this point you won’t be able to squish them on you ‘pod but rumors suggest that might change quickly. It is quite interesting to note the following:
(HBO Exec’s) main fear was that viewers watching HBO programmes on the internet might decide to cancel their cable service. To avoid that, they will offer HBO on Broadband only to customers who contract to use their high-speed internet service from a cable operator.

As much as we love when ‘life imitates art’, it comes a time when it is just weird. This years Sundance Film Festival features a film directed by Ari Gold (no, not Jeremy Piven) and featuring our boy Adrian Grenier (not playing Vinnie), in a comedy about the world’s greatest air drummer (not air guitarist?!.. i guess drummers are funnier) called ‘Adventures of Power‘. Must check it out when it is released.
Another rather intriguing article by Chuck Klosterman for The Guardian (UK).
|| When you start to read this article you think “Oh another one of the haters”, but after a few lines you begin to feel for the poor guy.. he absolutely loves Entourage and doesn’t know why.
Entourage is definitely entertainment. Entourage is definitely a TV show. OK it doesn’t have the insightful philosophical script that other ‘shows’ have, it is comedy with a touch of drama (pun intended!).
It is meant to make you laugh, smile and just relax with a few beers and friends on the side. Your attention span is not needed 100% of the time, pay attention to the boobs, to the frustrations of Ari Gold, to the trials and tribulations of Eric ‘E’ Murphy, and occasionally look at what Vinnie is up to, those are the only prerequisites here buddy. It is only a 22 minute show. A perfect lunchtime special.
Chuck Klosterman is no average joe when it comes to TV shows. But we still think he feels guilty for loving Entourage 🙂
Even without the red carpet, and the star-studded sights and sounds of a Golden Globes award ceremony, we here at ‘Entourage F*cking Fan Club’ would like to pause for a moment and bath Mr. Piven aka Ari Gold in glory.
Jeremy Piven just got the nod for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” beating out one of his own (Kevin Dillon) and a couple of golden oldies such as Ted Danson and William Shatner… geez if only I had seen the line up before and I would have bet my life on him winning. Congratulations Jeremy!
After a retrospective look at an article titled ‘Entourage’ may be the next big thing for HBO, I was intrigued in the comment that Doug Ellin made:
“I still think most people watch that show (The Sopranos) by themselves. I think people gather to watch our show. They watch at parties. They also steal it. They get it online.”
New York Times Article: Generating Buzz in All the Right Places, ‘Entourage’ Fills a Gap for HBO.

Personally, I get my dosage from my paid-for-subscription of HBO, but I know a lot of friends who download the episodes off the net (downloading using software called ‘torrents’ i think…is that what Doug means by stealing?) as they don’t have access to HBO.
How do you get yours? And is it easy if you can’t get them by A. Watching HBO or B. Buying the DVD sets?
Lloyd – A gay secretary. Now how could we have ever known that our Ari would end up with a gay secretary?! Not there is anything wrong with that, but our Ari is the Alpha-Male, the Mucho-man, and the quick-witted brutally honest almost Anti-Semitic Homophobic Jew. Dramedy at its best.
We all love Lloyd, and so does Ari. Here is the infamous ‘Brokeback Entourage’ – A collection of Ari & Lloyd moments that will brighten your day:
